reimagining chagall ✨✨ fifth & sixth graders remixed some of chagall’s famous biblical paintings in a tri-fold format, allowing them to choose what they saw as the foreground, middle and background aspects of each composition. we also took time to learn about the remarkable life and legacy of chagall. it was so fun to share one of my all time favorite artists w them and see his work thru their eyes 👀 #chagall #arteducation

my middle school ceramics elective has been so lovely, lovely, lovely thus far. so proud of all that these students have accomplished in our first month together and am always at such ease starting my Thursday mornings w them. swipe thru to see some of their hand built creations 🐧🏺🤍 #ceramics #arteducation

this year i attempted to use the glow forge to make sukkah decorations in the maker lab. i designed some using a stencil from canva of the arba minim & some a hamsa that was part stencil (hollow in the middle), part solid. students chose which one they wanted to use for their decoration. students got to drill their own holes in the wood using a v safe kid-friendly drill. the glow forge cooperated for the most part, but some hiccups were inevitable. they still look cute :) #sukkot #makerlab

Keith Haring artist study for sukkot w first and second grade 🕺🏻 we learned all about Keith and his legacy. Then we created sukkah decorations in the style of his famous figures, and explored his artistry using different tools and modalities in the maker space. finally we went mystical. we learned about the sacred meaning of the arba minim and how they represent parts of the human body. using Keith’s famous “growing one” print, we mapped the arba minim on to the figure, creating a unique collage that celebrates his artistry and the special quality of the lulav. why did i choose to celebrate Keith Haring as a way of learning about and preparing for sukkot? The holiday of Sukkot is all about joy, the time of our happiness. Keith wanted nothing more than to make people feel joy and warmth from his artistry. To me, his style embodies universal love and joy more than any other artist I know. Plus, Keith is for the children. And so am i ❤️ #keithharing #art #arteducation
